Micromax is all set to release the Canvas 5 Smartphone, and according to industry experts, this new model is poised to be quite different from its predecessor. DroidGoblin has revealed that the Canvas 5 will be the very first Smartphone in the Micromax's portfolio to run on CynagenMod, and will be released into the market later this year below the Rs 22,000 price point.
The Canvas 5 is set to impress where its specifications are concerned too. The Smartphone is said to be powered by a MediaTek octa-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and will flaunt a 5-inch full HD display as well as an 18-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It will also feature a microSD card support and have 16GB of internal storage.
The Canvas 5 is reported to run on CyanogenMod (based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat) out of the box. This custom ROM for Android devices has become increasingly popular over time and has recorded over 12 million active installs on several devices as of June 2014. Another interesting thing about the Canvas 5 is the fact that it is likely to be priced below Rs. 22,000.
It was only last month that the Micromax Canvas 4 Plus was launched online at Rs. 16,750. This Smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek (MT6592) octa-core processor, and features a 5-inch HD (1280x720 pixels) display, 16GB internal memory, 1GB RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2,000mAh battery.
