The CEO of ASUS, Jerry Shen has mentioned that the company's second generation smartwatch will arrive in the third quarter with an unveiling expected to commence next month at Computex Taipei.
He denied rumors of the smartwatch seeing delays in launch and mentioned that it would arrive as originally scheduled. The Computex Taiwan will take place from the 2nd of June to the 6th of June, so there's not much time left for the arrival of the wearable.
Another good news coming across for Android fans is that the ZenWatch 2 will apparently run Android Wear operating system. This is a relief for fans after ASUS was rumored to be developing a new wearable OS.
The last bit of information we're getting from this report is with regards to the battery life of this wearable. It is said that ASUS has doubled the battery capacity of the ZenWatch 2, thus giving it four days of backup on a single charge.
The current gen ZenWatch can last up to two days, which is excellent as it is, but it's good to see that ASUS is keen to improve in that area. We're curious to see if ASUS will make any changes with regards to the design or the display of the smartwatch.
With an announcement expected early next month, we should see the ZenWatch 2 making its way to the markets shortly after. Expect a massive price drop in the original ZenWatch by June or July.
